Es el ave rapaz cazadora más grande de Chile. Se caracteriza por tener un plumaje gris oscuro que cubre la cabeza, pecho y dorso, que pasa al color blanco hacia el abdomen y las patas.
The buzzard eagle; it is the largest hunting bird of prey in Chile. It is characterized by having a dark gray plumage that covers the head, chest and back, which turns white towards the abdomen and legs.

Posee unas fuertes garras y pico, que utilizan para cazar principalmente pequeños roedores, conejos y liebres. Si bien es una excelente cazadora, es común observarla también consumiendo carroña que ha sido dejada por otros animales.
It has strong claws and a beak, which are used to hunt mainly small rodents, rabbits and hares. Although it is an excellent hunter, it is common to observe it also consuming carrion that has been left by other animals.

El águila es una especie abundante y solitaria, presente en gran parte de Sudamérica: en Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Brasil, Bolivia, Perú, Venezuela y a lo largo de todo Chile, desde Arica a Tierra del Fuego, habitando terrenos abiertos, sectores arbustivos, estepas y montañas en altitudes que pueden llegar a los 3.500 msnm.
The eagle is an abundant and solitary species, present in much of South America: in Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela and throughout all of Chile, from Arica to Tierra del Fuego, inhabiting open lands, bushy sectors, steppes and mountains at altitudes that can reach 3,500 meters above sea level.
